Hey I’m Kes Lablans, I’m a second year student at NHL Stenden in Leeuwarden. I study Communication and multimedia design, which basically means that I study anything and everything creative that my heart desires. During my first year I tried out a lot of different things which is how I ended up with a few fields to focus on. In my second year I’m focusing on 2D animation and character design, while furthering my photography skills as a hobby 🙂
My website contains anything I had joy in creating and things that I’m proud of. In the posts below you can see all my travels which contains photo’s I’ve made in Rome, Koblenz and Leeuwarden. I also have a page for all the other photo’s I’ve taken and of course pages for my animations and illustrations.
I started making and illustrating characters in my first year of school. I started experimenting with art styles and how shadows work. I also participated in an art competition during July 2026, which you can read more about on my illustration page.
While experimenting with photography in my first year I did a photoshoot with some of my friends. I tried to capture their personalities within a neon theme. I let each of them choose two colours and then just let them go crazy. This here is Koko, I know his full name by heart, but since he’s Bulgarian and I’m not I will not try to spell it. During my last project in my first year I made a game for Leip with my friends Leip is an organisation that plans events, sports and a lot of other stuff for students in Leeuwarden. They asked us to come up with a game that would help new students in Leeuwarden get comfortable in the city faster then they are now. For this game I made 2 characters the wizard and an option for the main character. This was my first time doing pixel art and also doing animations. You can see all my wizard animations here.
